Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, Inc. (CHJ) commits to look after and prioritize the safety and well-being of its students, parents and other members of its educative community; thus, last November 12, 2021, CHJ, in collaboration with its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) spearheaded by Mrs. Maria Thelma Servidad, PTA President, organized a vaccination awareness talk for its parents and guardians, students, faculty, and staff via Zoom meeting.

The conduct of this talk specifically aims at bringing to the awareness of parents and students the nature and effectiveness of the vaccine to prevent the acquisition and spread of the coronavirus.

To achieve this particular aim, Dr. John Andrew T. Camposano, Dr. Ma. Stella G. Paspe, and Dr. Teresa Martirez-Hallegado from the Philippine Pediatrics Society of the Philippines – Western Visayas Chapter were invited. The speakers particularly tackled topics concerning vaccination among adolescents as well as the reasons for the need to vaccinate the younger population. After the talk, the resource persons addressed the questions of the audience during the open forum.

“The talk which was very well-organized and comprehensive had indeed imparted substantial knowledge about vaccine and had made me understand the essence of it in people’s lives and in the society”, said Ma. Jensen Barbielle A. Geraño, a Grade 11 ABM student belonging to the age bracket of 17 years old and below. She commended the school’s effort in organizing such activities in order to aid students like her in becoming responsible and productive members of the society.

CHJ hopes to conduct more of these talks in order to ensure that the members of its educative community are better guided, well-informed and educated about certain topics, issues and concerns in the society.
